Zaltana is really a group of projects that can operate together or independently. Modules that have been produced for Apache that could be useful in any Apache project have been release separately to allow better reuse and to reduce co-dependence.

Applications

Applications that have been ported/modified to Zaltana.

Authentication

One important part of the Zaltana system is a good and common authentication system. This is really the primary and most important way we integrate web applications.

Recently I used Zimbra community, and had to register and login to each of their Wiki, Bug Tracer, Forum. Demo etc and each with a different login name and password! So it is essential to have a single system.

Widgets

This is a tricky one, more specifically it is HTML, CSS, Javascript widgets. The widgets are actually large and tiny things. A simple example of a widget is "your name".

Style

The Styles - which incorporate XSL, Javascript, Graphics (and other static content like Flash) and CSS are actually reusable stand alone. You can even use just the static content (CSS, Graphics, Flash, Javascript etc) in a web site, without depending on any of the XSL, Apache modules etc.
